A big thanks to all the Scouts whoparticipated in the cleanup, repair, and waterproofing of the troop's equipment storage container.  There had been a water leak in the unit which is now gone!  It took lots of scraping, sweeping, and painting on special waterproof sealant on the top of the troop's container, and your teamwork got it done JUST IN TIME before all those heavy downpours we had in the last couple of weeks!  Special thanks to Jacob, Zach, and JT, three PLC members who came out on a Saturday morning to apply a second coat, and then put the leftover sealant on the Cub pack's container.  Thanks also to Mr. Lucas and Mr. Kloeker for their know-how and for spearheading the project.

A giant "thank you" to the Scouts and parents who spread many, many yards of wood chips today at Morehead Church!  This is a great example of Scout Spirit by cheerfully giving back to our sponsor organization.  Mr. Whicker at the church was very, very pleased with the results of your work today!

What Boy Scout knot is this?

I am rebuilding my shower and needed to temporarily tie a pipe up out of the way so I could work on the floor.  Click here if you don't see the picture.

Who knows what knot I used?  Why did I choose that one?

155th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg - A battle that would change our nation

The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Often referred to as the "High Water Mark of the Rebellion", Gettysburg was the war's bloodiest battle with 51,000 casualties. One in every four Southerners who fell at Gettysburg were from North Carolina. It was also the inspiration for President Abraham Lincoln's immortal "Gettysburg Address". As Scouts, we do not glory in war, but recognize how these events have shaped us as a people and has given us some of the most recognizable leaders in our nation's proud history.
