Personal Gear
Personal gear is exactly that - personal. That said,
there are some very specific items that must be with each scout when they
go camping. These are known as the Ten Essentials and they are the most
important items to take. The list is below. You'll note that these are
covered in the more comprehensive list of items to bring along in your
backpack. In addition, being sponsored by a Christian church, we add one
other essential - a bible. Remember - there is no excuse for not having
these essential items with you.
Starting with the ten essentials, take only what you
need in your pack, leaving room to carry your share of patrol food and
gear. If it looks as if the weather will be cool, plan accordingly. As
always, you must travel to and from all camping trips in full Scout
uniform. The PLC will decide about other uniform options for the weekend.
Pages 224-227 in your Boy Scout Handbook can give you a more complete list
of what to pack. The list below provides another source of gear to take
with you.
